Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas: Foodie Favorites

Hello, I'm Ashley...and yes, I'm in love with the Royal Caribbean culinary experience. While I'm healthy the majority of time on land--I tend to "let loose" once I hit the Windjammer Marketplace (Royal Caribbean's buffet...and again, yes, I'm always first in line, on the first day, for the cheeseburger!--then I hit the gym.)

The Enchantment of the Seas has numerous options for "foodies." One of my favorite breakfast experiences at sea is the Park Cafe, located in the Solarium (think quiet pool with classical or spa music playing.) It's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the morning buffet. The English Muffin sandwiches hit the spot, and I love adding a sweet treat, like a mini-croissant or danish, to my menu.

The Windjammer Marketplace offers so much more than "the usual." Some of my favorites through our sailings have to be the omelets made-to-order, Middle Eastern kefta and the delicious Prime Rib. You can also have a light lunch back at the Park Cafe, where you can try the famous Kummelweck Sandwich, or enjoy a slice of pizza with a custom hand-tossed salad.

Deck 6 offers a fabulous anytime treat of Ben + Jerry's (I always get Chunky Monkey!) and Starbucks coffee (a taste of home at sea!) These favorites can be found at Cafe Latte-Tudes.

A formal dining room can be a wonderful experience on any Royal Caribbean ship--but I prefer, since I'm around people all of the time in my current hospitality job--to enjoy spending time with family in a more intimate dinner dining experience--and there is nothing more brilliant than Chops Grille, Royal Caribbean's signature steakhouse. Recently updated with a new menu, Chops Grille is the best of everything--ambiance, service and food. The Enchantment of the Seas has a particularly lovely version of Chops Grille--with floor-to-ceiling windows that create a delightful view for a Caribbean sunset.

My favorite meal at Chops Grille consists of their amazingly delicious pretzel bread, followed by the most exquisite Caesar Salad a gal could ask for (the croutons are home-made and beyond describable!) Then, I usually get the Filet Mignon with Bearnaise Sauce (medium-rare and melt-in-your-mouth fabulous!) with a side of broccolini, mushrooms + leeks, baked potato and yes, their new gruyere tater tots. Our meal is usually paired with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Last, but certainly not least, my favorite part of the meal (and saddest because it's close to ending)--is dessert. I always get the Mud Pie, with the extra bonus of the Enchantment's best server (and family friend), Gustavo, adding some vanilla ice cream and berries.

So many guests shy away from Chops Grille's cover charge and the idea of a dress code, but honestly, it is the best meal you will ever have, with the most friendly and professional team at sea. You only live once right? Why not enjoy the best of the best.

"Loyal To Royal"....always.

The British Colonial + Ashley's Downtown Nassau

One of my favorite destinations when sailing with Royal Caribbean is the Port of Nassau in the Bahamas. While many people rush off the ship--eager to spend the day at the beach or over on Paradise Island--I like waking up early and exploring all that Downtown Nassau has the offer--the children walking to school, the shops opening and the Royal Bahamian Police directing traffic and taking photos with tourists. I also love the history of Nassau, and wish I could step back in time to the days of The Duke and Duchess of Windsor living in Government House (must have been interesting, to say the least!)

My favorite hotel downtown is the British Colonial (now Hilton.) I am always happy to take a rest from the heat in its wonderful lobby, and beautiful gardens! It's a great place to be in the middle of everything, yet get away from it all!

Below are some photographs from Downtown Nassau. I love capturing the simple and everyday lifestyle and places of this beautiful city.

I am looking forward to spring, so in this edition of Petunia Picks, I am featuring some of my favorite shades of mint. This color is such a beautiful pastel--perfect for a day surrounded by abundant blossoms, clear skies and sunshine.

Next week, I will continue the remaining posts in my cruise series. Look out for my foodie favorites--as well as my first travel guide to downtown Nassau!

Happy Weekend. What are your plans? Here in Celebration, we are having a downtown Art + Wine Stroll--always a fun evening for "people watching" and relaxation. However, tonight I am celebrating the weekend with pizza + champagne.

Hugs (and Cheers!) xo

Golden Sparkle

This is one of my go-to outfits while cruising. I love looking glamorous, but also find the need to be comfortable! The sequined tunic--which I had in my closet for years before actually wearing-- makes me feel like I've stepped back in time to the hottest disco around (I love ABBA's "Dancing Queen," so think "Dancing Duchess!") The leggings are so easy to pack, and go with everything--while the shoes make walking from deck-to-deck an easier task after a martini or two! ; )

Accessories At Sea

iPhone + iPad case: kate spade new york (similar + similar)

I love dressing up when I am on a cruise--but even more exciting than a fabulous dress or swimsuit is a fabulous accessory. Here are just a few of my favorites from my 2014 sailings!

bracelet: chloe + isabel (casablanca fringe multi-wrap)

dress: anthropologie (similar) || clutch: kate spade new york (re-purposed gia case, one of my new favorites here)

necklace: Kay Jewelers (similar

A Very Lilly Formal

(Ashley) dress: Lilly Pulitzer (Similar) || wristlet: Kate Spade (Similar) || bracelet: Kate Spade (Same Idiom, Similar Style) || necklace: Chico's (Similar Style) || shoes: Johnston + Murphy (Similar Style) || earrings: Chloe + Isabel

(Mom) top: Tahari (Similar Style) || belt: Nordstrom (Similar) || skirt: ASOS || necklace: Disney Parks + Resorts || shoes: Ellen Tracy

I thoroughly enjoy dressing up on formal night, so on my last cruise aboard the Enchantment of the Seas this past September, I wore one of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer dresses--the perfect combination of casual and fancy meets fun and Floridian. I also love my mom's floral belt--which brought the ASOS Colorblock Maxi Skirt and Tahari Top together for a complete (and beautiful!) look.

Ankara Blue

Whenever I travel, I focus on two things: comfort and style. Living in Florida, cruising is one of my passions--and the most convenient place to sail from is Port Canaveral (only 45 minutes away!) I am passionately "Loyal to Royal" (visit my travel page to learn more about my favorite ships!)

This will be the first of a series of posts this week highlighting my 2014 cruises--and come spring, I will unveil a whole new cruise series with posts from various ports-of-call.

This past June, I chose to board the beautiful Enchantment of the Seas in my favorite Tory Burch Zoe Tee. The Ankara Blue pattern was perfect for a day by the ocean, and I adore carrying my Mini Ella Tote in Yellow Daisy. It is such a great purse to carry all of my essentials--iPad, perfume, wallet and even my Lilly Pulitzer agenda book.

My accessories, of course, are nautical inspired--with my favorites being the seashell and sailboat Alex + Ani bangles. The seashell connects us to the ocean and the water's energy, while the sailboat represents peace in times of change--as well as celebrating the adventurous spirit.
